4 Days Algarve – Day 2 Lagos

Lagos is as a well a small but a very popular town. From Faro to Lagos you need to drive a bit more than one hour. The city offers you a very lovely old town with small and narrow streets. Many bars and restaurants invite you to eat and drink something. Lagos has a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

The Castle of Lagos is a medieval castle located in the municipality of Lagos. Its walls surrounded the entire city of Lagos, providing the town its main means of defence.

Ponta de Piedade

Ponta de Pietade

When you are in Lagos you should definitly visit Ponta de Piedade. It is a very beautiful cliff formation with a stunning view over the coast of Lagos. Furthermore the cliffs have spectacular caves and vaults. They are considered as the noblest natural phenomenon of the Algarve.

Beaches of Lagos

In addition, I can advice you to take a walk along the small beaches of Lagos. Directly behind the harbour one small bay follows the other. The beaches are connected through narrow tunnels in the high stone walls. It makes fun discovering lovely spots going along the seaside. Luckily it is not that crowded and you can really enjoy your time here. Especially the Lagos Roman Bridge is very beautiful. We reached this spot walking along the Praia dos Estudantes.
