4 Days Algarve – Day 3 Albufeira

Albufeira is a very beautiful city. When we first arrived in Albufeira the sun was already above the horizon and a long escalator led us down to the city center. In this moment the town looked magical and seemed like bathed in golden light. Especially with its white houses the city appeared really lovely.

Albufeira Harbor
Albufeira Harbor

Even the harbour in Albufeira is special. The houses around it are painted colorful.- Yellow – Pink – Babyblue – It kinda reminded me of the Villa Villekulla of Pippi Longstocking. Furthermore you can find many small restaurants and snack bars along the harbour. It is a very nice place for a short food stop.

But Albufeira is not only beautiful but also a party town. In the evening many young people meet at the main square of the town. Furthermore there are many bars placed in the city center. The most famous party street of the Algarve is “The Strip”

If you rather want to spend a quiet holiday you should better not stay close to Albufeiras oldtown.

Dolphin and Cave Tour

One thing you should not miss when visiting the Algarve is going to see dolphins! We booked a boat trip to see the dolphins and the Benagil Cave and it was amazing. I’ve never saw so much dolphins and especially no baby dolphine before. Even if the company which we had chosen for the boat trip with was not the best (X-Ride – I can not recommend the company) we had much luck seeing many dolphins.
But we could have enjoyed the time even more if we had booked a different company with a smaller boat and not so many people!

After seeing dolphins we went seeing the caves along the coast. The Algarve coast has many caves and the most famous of it is the Benagil Cave. You can visit it even by kajak if you want. With its own ‘indoor’ beach, two sea-facing holes and a further circular skylight eroded through its ceiling, it’s a favorite spot for photographers and tourists.

Praia da Falésia

The most beautiful beach for me this holiday was Praia da Falésia. The beach is located 13 kilometers east of the city of Albufeira. Praia da Falesia belongs to the small town of Olhos de Agua, a charming fishing village in the heart of the central Algarve. With its six kilometers in length it is one of the largest beaches in the Algarve. The red and rugged cliffs, with their small caves and rock tunnels make the beach something special. The water is crystal-clear and the sand shines golden. Praia da Falésia is for sure a hot spot you should not miss!
