Elafonisi is a magical place full of white and pink sandy beaches. Most of the time the sand here is composed of the remains of tiny pink shells that line the sea floor – that is where the pink color is coming from. Furthermore, Elafonisi is a great beach for windsurfing. The wind can blow very strong. For this reason it can be cold at the beach sometimes. If this is the case you better go till the end of the beach because the sand hills will protect you from the wind. This is one of the best spots on Crete. You definitely have to make a stop here! It is perfect place for a beach day.
